Mat Jessep
lead consultant
I'm a lawyer, integrity specialist, and educator with a background as a leader in the military. I help to protect, strengthen, and grow where performance, fairness, and reputation are critical.
I have direct experience in sport integrity as a lawyer, tribunal member, judiciary counsel, consultant, external independent investigator, trainer and educator, and interim National Integrity Manager.
I work with leaders who know that integrity, governance, and compliance aren't about ticking boxes — they are about protecting reputation, unlocking friction, and driving performance. Whether advising a national sporting organisation, state sporting organisation, club, government agency, or a professional league, I deliver solutions that are sharp, practical, and actionable. My track record speaks for itself.
Game Integrity
Through hands-on leadership as an integrity consultant at Game Integrity since 2022, I help organisations not just manage integrity risks but embed a true culture of integrity that drives sustainable success. My practical experience spans the full range of framework development and management.
Game Legal
Since 2019 I’ve built and run my own independent firm, Game Legal, delivering trusted advice to clients across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, Japan, Europe, the UK, and North America.
As a corporate and commercial lawyer, I have deep expertise in managing a broad range of legal and governance matters, including; Corporate structuring; Shareholder/member relations; Capital raising; Regulatory compliance; M&A transactions and asset sales; IP protection and commercialisation; Commercial contracts; athlete, employee, and contractor engagement; and Dispute resolution.
I have also designed and taught legal and integrity education courses at leading Australian universities, including 'Sports Law' currently at UTS and UNSW, and previously 'Esports and the Law' at Melbourne Law School and ‘Sport Integrity & Ethics’ at Victoria University.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (WSU) and a Diploma in Law (LPAB/USYD LEC) and I’m admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. In March 2026 I accepted a role as an Associate Member of the UTS Australian Centre for Olympic & Sports Studies (ACOSS).
If you need an experienced lawyer and integrity consultant who can deliver trusted leadership, legal precision, and a deep understanding of sport across its various levels and jurisdictions, I'm ready to help.
